Established in 1979, the CSO is one of the earliest and most influential national academic organizations in China's marine sector. CSO brings together the nation's premier marine science and technology resources—with over?182,000 individual members?and?331 institutional members. The Society also oversees?46 technical divisions, including 21 professional branches and 14 technical committees covering ocean physics, ocean engineering, deep-sea technology, ocean observation systems, and marine technology equipment—spanning the full spectrum from basic research to technology application, from coastal waters to the deep ocean.
